nothing like a filipina girl

I LOVE being Filipina. I love our food, our culture, our traditions, our songs, our dances. I’m so happy to see the younger generation embracing therapy, reconnecting with our roots, and proudly speaking our languages. I’m thankful the internet has given opportunities to learn about Filipino history (I didn’t learn anything in school, even though our people have been here since October 1587!).

I especially admire Filipino creators who share our culture. Sometimes, I see people making mean comments on videos of others trying to speak Tagalog or mispronouncing our food. My message? Let people in! Our culture is warm and loving—let’s share it with everyone without judgement. Be a welcoming space where people feel safe to ask questions.
